The air handlers provide ventilation air, make-up air, and primary heating and cooling for the building. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (October 5 - 7 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM) Mines is starting up new equipment at the Mines Heating Plant which is located on the southwest corner of Cheyenne and 13th Streets (see map below). During this period large amounts of white-colored water vapor will be released from a rooftop stack. This white-colored water vapor may look like smoke but it is harmless water vapor.
Please do not call 9-1-1 or the Golden Fire Department during this period. The Golden Fire Department has been notified and will not send out fire crews unless there is a separate emergency in the area.
Additionally, the sidewalk on the sidewalk located on the west side of Cheyenne Street between 13th and 14th Streets will be closed during this period.

System(s) Involved: Access to the south courtyard at Alderson and Chiller Plant 6 will be restricted, starting July 6th. The temp parking lot north of the USGS Hazards building will be closed permanently starting July 13th.
Effect(s) on Occupants: Access to the south courtyard at Alderson and Chiller Plant 6 will be limited to authorized vehicles only; please contact Summer Schaller to coordinate access in advance @Summer Schaller. Limitations are expected to continue through August. Additional information will be made available regarding access limitations from August through October.
The temporary lot north of the USGS Hazards building will close permanently. New Accessible parking and a loading zone is now available on Illinois Street in front of the main entrance, and alternative Accessible parking is available at the Welcome Center or on Illinois Street in front of Brown Hall.
