Please avoid the 1st floor when possible – ADA entry & elevator access will be maintained.

  • Notice: Hill Hall Classroom Construction May 16 – August 16, 2026

    Purpose: Limited Access, Construction Zone
    System(s) Involved: Classrooms, Student Lounge, Blaster Printer, Vending Machines, Building Access Point

    Effect(s) on Occupants: Construction will be occurring in Classrooms 202, 204, 209, and 211 for the duration of the summer. As a safety measure, the corridor between these rooms will be shut down to accommodate construction. This will also impact Room 207, the Hennebach Student Lounge. Please remove any personal items from this space by end of day Friday May 15. Access to the exterior door will be limited, please use the door directly to the south. A temporary break area and alternative printer location will be provided, to accommodate those remaining on campus. The nearest vending machines should be in Green Center or Coolbaugh Hall.

  • USGS Hazards Temp Lot Closure, Access limitations to Alderson Hall & CP6 July 6 -October, 2026

    Outage Date: Monday July 6 through October 2026
    Outage Time: All day
    Purpose: Completion of landscaping & paving scope for the EMRF construction

    System(s) Involved: Access to the south courtyard at Alderson and Chiller Plant 6 will be restricted, starting July 6th. The temp parking lot north of the USGS Hazards building will be closed permanently starting July 13th.

    Effect(s) on Occupants: Access to the south courtyard at Alderson and Chiller Plant 6 will be limited to authorized vehicles only; please contact Summer Schaller to coordinate access in advance @Summer Schaller. Limitations are expected to continue through August. Additional information will be made available regarding access limitations from August through October.

    The temporary lot north of the USGS Hazards building will close permanently. New Accessible parking and a loading zone is now available on Illinois Street in front of the main entrance, and alternative Accessible parking is available at the Welcome Center or on Illinois Street in front of Brown Hall. Please see attached map for Accessible Parking options.

  • Student Center Temperature Fluctuating July 2, 2026 Until Repaired

    Outage Date: July 2, 2026, until repaired
    Outage Time: Until repair/ troubleshooting is completed
    Purpose: To identify the root cause with the AHU breaker tripping

    System(s) Involved: Air Handling Unit 1

    Effect(s) on Occupants: The Air Handler serves and supplies air to the 1st floor and 2nd floor on the West side of the building. The Periodic Table, Elements, WOW Café, Qdoba, and the Bookstore will be affected. The air handler provides ventilation air, make-up air and primary heating and cooling for the building. During the shutdown period, there will be no air circulation, the cooling set point would not be satisfied, and the space within the area would not reach the required static pressure (space would be much more negative). The heating and cooling set points within these areas would not be satisfied. Building spaces temperatures will fluctuate and be higher than normal due to lack of airflow. The air handler will remain off as a precautionary measure while the root cause is identified with the breaker.

  • GRL Domestic Hot Water Outage July 6, 2026 Until Complete

    System(s) Involved: Domestic hot water throughout the GRL/Museum for the duration of the outage.

    Effect(s) on Occupants: Labs, restrooms and any plumbing fixtures will not have Domestic hot water. The fixtures will still have domestic cold water during outage.

  • Green Center HVAC Preventive Maintenance July 13 – 16, 2026

    Outage Time: 5:30am - 3:30pm daily, (Critical Equipment, Air Handling units (AHUs), Roof Top Units (RTUs), and Exhaust Systems, will be serviced from 5:30am to 10:00am or sooner if possible.)
    Purpose: HVAC Preventive Maintenance

    System(s) Involved: Air handling units, Roof Top Units, FCU’s, Exhaust Fans, and air compressors

    Effects on Occupants: Personnel may remain in the building during HVAC preventive maintenance. You may experience a slight change in temperature throughout the building. The air handlers provide ventilation air, make-up air, and primary heating and cooling for the building. During the shutdown period, there will be no air circulation, heating and cooling setpoints will not be maintained, and affected spaces will not achieve the required static pressure (spaces may become more negative). Intermittent lab fume hood airflow may also occur during this period.

    Scope of Work: Maintenance activities will include replacing belts and filters, cleaning coils and outside air intakes, greasing fan and motor bearings, and inspecting all major components of the HVAC equipment. To minimize operational disruption, all equipment will be serviced early in the morning, and units will be taken offline and serviced one at a time, ensuring that only a single system is out of service at any given time.
